Common on lakes, harbors and bays, and rivers in the winter, the Bufflehead, Bucephala albeola, nests in tree cavities. One of the smallest ducks, it is often seen in small groups, diving for food. This one in breeding plumage is on a small pond at Middle Creek WMA. |
